Brief Introduction to the Geothermal Heat：
The cultivation of the underground heat in Xianyang has been a new spotlight for the economic development. At present,29 underground thermowells has been dug with depth of 1464-3608m, maximum flow of 305 m3/h, maximum temperature of 120℃,greatest pressure  of 1.6Mpa. The cultivation has shown that the underground water in the area is characteristic of high tem perature, high pressure, good quality, rich deposit and wide usage application etc.
Xianyang is well located in the xi’an-xianyang underground thermo fields, mainly with the thermo-structure of Weihe River Northern Bank Crack Belt, within the city proper, in an area of 300k㎡and depth of 3500m,there is a deposit of 5007×1012 kcalwhich equals standard ccall 7.2×108tons, thegeo-thermal flow total amount is 495×108 m3 andthecultivatable amountis 8.5 ×108 m3.And there are many tree elements florine, stronrium, iodine, boron silicon,etc.4-6itens in the heat mineral water in the wells meet qualification for the standards with medical effects and so it is high quality heat mineral water with medical effects.
Development and Usage of Geothermal Heat:
As early as in the Tang Dynasty(618-907),people in now Maweipo Tower near Xianyang City used water from a hot spring according to records.Local people in modern time sta-rted to use underground heat in 1990s,and In1992,first underground heat water well was dug and at that time only for bathing. In order to Improve its usage, the departments have sent personnel out for learning and invited famous experts from outside to our city for pro fessional training. Today, the scale of usage has been greatly enlarged in Xianyang. By the end of 2006, 23wells in the city proper have been dug, and yearly cultivation amo-unt is 300 ×104m3 and the total cultivation Amount is 2000×104m3.

The underground heat is mainly used in the following service industry as heating, foot-massage, medical care and so on. The heating area has been 160 ×104m3 now. So the coal consumption has been reduced by 200,000tons annually. It has also provided business for restaurants, service and tran sportation. In 2006,the city has received nearly nine million to urists and visitors with a tourist income of 3.6 billion yuan RMB.400 foot massage houses has been opened since then with an employment of 10000 people. The business income in the restaurants have reached 2.3 billion yuan RMB. The cultivation of the underground heat has benefited the living communities such as the Empire Hot Spring Garden and Qinyang Hot Spring Garden in Xianyang, greatly improving the inverting conditions for economic deve-lopmentinXianyang.
